Hi everyone.
I have a Mercruiser 4.3LX which I am planning on pulling out soon to rebuild the transom. While it is out I will try to work on some obvious issues like changing the starter ? very rusted ? and inspect the oil pan etc. What do I need to do to be able to fire it will outside of the boat? Obviously connecting the fuel line to a tank but
I drained the power steering fluid before disconnecting the hoses from the power steering arm; what do I need to do about that?
Also, the wire harness is disconnected; is there a kit I can by to use it while outside the boat?
Are there any other issues I need to be aware of?
Thanks in advance

Take the belt off the power steering pump.

Hook up the battery to the starter and ground as normal.
For ignition, jumper wire from battery positive to + terminal of coil.
Hook up a remote starter button across the large terminals of the slave solenoid.

No need to worry about the wiring harness plug, it's not needed.

Don, thanks for your reply. Would you please shed more light on the role of the remote starter button. I am not sure I understand what is it and why do I need it. Also, what about the cooling method? When the outdrive is on, I hook a water supply through it and the engine get its cooling throught that. What do I need to do to provide cooling when it is out of the boat?

The remote starter button just jumpers the solenoid to engage the starter. Basically it's like using a screwdriver to jumper the solenoid but safer as you're remote a bit.
