Re: how to replace impeller, 89' 125hp

If you remove the lower unit the impeller is inside the water pump housing where the driveshaft enters the lower unit. Four or five bolts hold the cover of the water pump to the bottom half. Remove those and the impeller is the rubber propeller looking part with 5 to 10 vanes on it. You will need to disconnect the shift linkage up at the motor and there are 5 or 6 (maybe more?) bolts which will be located either just above or below the anti ventilation plate which holds it on. You may have to remove the trim tab/exhaust snout to access one of them. Not sure if you need to have this engine in neutral or in gear before you remove it. You may also have to remove the exhaust housing covers. (not sure on that one. Think I did on my old 100 hp Chrysler.)Someone else maybe will answer the other questions for you. Good luck. By the way I would probably get a manual. It will be lots of help.
