One of my boats is a FourWinns Horizon QX and I am trying to replace the radio. However, I need to remove the steering wheel to get the old radio out. I have taken the nut off the coloum, but I can't pull the wheel off. Are they press fit on, so that I can use a puller to get it off? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

You got to hook a puller to it and it should come off.

A gear puller would work if it has arms.

Ayuh,...

It's a Tapered, keyed shaft...

Run the Nut back on so it's Flush with the end of the shaft,....
Position yourself so that you can exert pressure, with your knees against the wheel, pushing Off....
Then,..
WACK the Nut/ End of the shaft with a BFHammer.....

The wheel will break free,+ you can remove the Nut, then the Wheel....

Bondo?s method works even better if you have someone to help you. The other person can pull on the wheel while you whack the nut. Sometimes it is difficult to get you knees behind the wheel and exert any pressure on the wheel depending on how it is located. Either way it should work for you. Never had to use a puller on a steering wheel on a boat, had to on cars before though.

I've done it with 2 little hydraulic jacks taking place of the knees.....and it looks a little less embarrassing....
