how to remove starter on 87 165hp mercruiser ford type

I need help,<br /> i need some one to please tell me the trick to removing my starter it is a 1987 sunbird 18.5ft 165hp 4cyl ford motor alpha 1 out drive with stainless steel prop. it also has a fresh water cooling system,this makes it almost impossiable to reach the two nuts, please help if there is a easier way please let me know. :confused: :mad:

Welcome to my world, Kenneth....this is what we politely call a 'restricted access' fastener....you already know the name us wrenches call it....swear at the hardware, swear at the person who designed it, then gather your best tools, all your patience {something comfy to kneel on helps} and take off what you must for access, at least the heat exchanger...and while your flippin that wrench 12 times to make one turn on the nut, remember you are smarter than what you are workin on and your gonna win.

AH youve got a toughy. Ive done this for 15+ years and still some of them are tough. Heres a hint Snap-on wrenchs are alot slimmer(if your not using on)allows you to get a bit more of a turn. Still tough

i will keep this short and sweet thanks for the help the snap-on gear wrenchs works great. look for my next problem i just posted it to day.
