Yes the seals are pushed out with the bearing.

Service manual #47701863 covers the procedure and tools.

I just got to ask.
How many times have you done this job on a DPS-A?
That’s a $300.00 bearing carrier that is about to get destroyed.

I have not done it on a DPS, but I am looking at the manual listed above and that is how it says to remove.

I have also done it on a Bravo 3 and a Bravo 1 and had no issues

BT Doctur sent you a link (may have to cut and past) so you can get the manual

Did tge neighbord DPS 2 years ago, about 3 times on a stringer400, once on a stringer 800, a few times on a DPA, twice on a Bravo, once on my alpha, twice on my 290DP, a few MC-1s, about 35 or so outboards

however been swapping seals on gear boxes for decades. Designed a few gear boxes as well

Have a whole tool box of seal pullers and seal drivers

I'm guessing you worked on a DP-S ?
They have prop seals like the MerCruiser. And those seals can be removed from the rear.
But the O.P. posted pictures of a DPS-A bearing carrier. Those seals can only be pushed out the front and the needle bearing will come out with them. The O.D. of the seals is the same as the bearing.

The O.P. even posted a parts breakdown that clearly shows what direction the seals are installed.

looking at the casting, the bore is a thru-bore and the retention "lip" is the 4 staked areas. that is a cheesy design vs machining a tru lip. however it would save a secondary machining step.

I think it probably is more expensive to make it this way.
Those lips are there to function as a fishing line cutter. Actually seems to work pretty good.

The DPS series drives are very different from the DP series drives. Very few parts interchange. The DPS series (depending on serial number or upgrade) can have clutch plate shifting with no cone clutch.
