How to neotiate through threads here

Hi all,

I'm new here and have more than a few questions about the site but will only ask a few here. I'm not even sure if it's the right place to ask, sorry mods.

I want to go to the last page of a thread and it looks like I can only go forward a page at a time. Kind of time consuming on a 400 page thread. There has to be a better way.

I want to add a picture to my avatar, how please?

One more question, why is my text in italics now?

Let me answer the moving around part 1st.

If you are in a thread and want to go to the last page, there are 2 ways.

If you scroll down to the bottom of the page you're are viewing, click on the highest page number, in this case 699. That takes you to the first post on the last page, #699.

If you scroll to the top of a thread page, you will see what page you are on, in the case below, page #1 and to the right is the number of total pages in the thread, 699. Type the last page number on top of the current page number and click the right arrow. You will go to the top of the the last page.

We aren't done. From a thread list as below, under the 1 is a flag that you have unread posts in the the thread - Click on the bluish thing and you go to the first unread post in the thread. On the right of the topic line is a bluish boxy thing. Clicking that takes you to the last new post in the thread.

The Italics is a function of the Advanced Editor. which is shown below, Clicking on the A under the arrow when you are writing or editing one of your posts, opened the Advanced Editor. The circled B I U Are the hightlight controls. B for Bold. I for Italic and U for Underline.

Use your right mouse button to highlight the text you what marked and click any of the three buttons or any combination. For example Bold. italics and underlined

Editing your Avatar. The easiest way is to click on your default avatar above your Username in any post, That takes you to your profile. Put the mouse cursor on the default Avatar and click the blue box saying Edit Avatar. Just follow the prompts.

If need to look at some of the other aids, Click on Forum Help in the the sig below, Most of the Mods have a link in their sigs.

And now that I think about it, some of this in the Forum Guidelines.

Just as a FYI,

ctrl I will put in italics, (I suspect this is what the OP did)
ctrl B will bold and
ctrl U will underline

... There my job is done for the day (I work as an IT specialist) now I can go home for the day, LOL.

To change your avatar, click your USERNAME in the upper right, and select "My Profile." When that comes up your avatar will be on the left side of the screen ... hover your cursor over it, and you'll see EDIT AVATAR appear. Click that, and you should be on your way.

I did it. Not my boat but my 95' StarCraft Superfisherman 190 is nearly identical. I lost all my pics when I dumped a Tim Hortons coffee on the keyboard. Fried it.

I bet the hard drive could be pulled and possibly salvage the data, including pix, unless it caught fire....
