Well, to begin with you are in the top end of the rpm's with that motor... you could step down one pitch which will give you a couple of hundred rpm's more and a little stronger hold shot to boot...You can run these motor's at 6,000 rpm's as long as the timing is spot on and the fuel is fresh...We premix our motors(lose the oil injection) to 40/1 when running hard and we use synthetic blend oil...5700 hundred isn't going to hurt the motor and may give you a couple of miles an hour...You will never get 10mph...you could put a nose cone on the lower from Bob's costing you arouind $500 shipped both ways and installed by them...Then you would need a $800 plus jack plate to jack the motor under way which might give you another couple....Best case is to sell your motor, and get a 90's 200h.p fishing motor...Can be had for $2500 all day long...Now you are going to get to where you want to be....

Probably a 250 hp engine would get you up around 60 mph. . . who are you racing against, and what kind of rig do they have?

Bottom line is that your 150 hp engine is giving you what it has got and it cannot give you a 20% increase in speed with a different propeller or other changes.

the cheapest way to get your boat and current motor to go 60mph is to put it on the trailer and tow it to 60.....:D

However like many have stated, you may need to sell the existing motor and go bigger. You could also make sure your not carrying extra weight.

Before you go out and buy a larger motor, take a look at the rating plate on your BOAT, some states will pull you off the water if the craft is over-powered.

well, sit down on the throttle lever or at least kick it with your foot to create more force, make sure you give VERY hard WOT to beat the sh... out of the engine.

make sure you visited the toilet before boating to reduce the weight, remove everything from the boat you can ( PFD,s etc) - its all additional mass, ride naked since clothing also adds weight, shave off every hair on your body for better aerodynamics.
