I have a 2004 Volvo Penta 5.0 GL. Went to start it up after the winter and would not turn over. I checked the battery in another vehicle and it cranked it up fine. I ran the ignition switch test as posted here and that checked out fine. I also checked the relay switch and "I think" it tested fine. My next move is the neutral safety swicth. Can someone tell me where this is located and how do a test it or bypass it to see if that is the issue. Thanks.

I have a 96 5.7 Volvo, there are 2 wires, yellow with red stripes. one comes from your key to the remote, from there to the engine. unplug them both from the remote and touch them I use little jumper wires with clips the engine should start.

Thank you for your reply. When you say one comes form the remote, what is that referring to? The ignition swicth itself or the safety button that the lanyard connects to?

there are 2 wires coming from the remote. when the shifter is in neutral, the neutral switch is on, you can put a test lite on those wires and test it that way or just make sure its in neutral and join the 2 yellow and red wires from the key and engine.
