How To Flush??

Sorry people to ask such a simple question but when I take my boat out next weekend going out in saltwater when I flushed out the motor do I have to set it in gear or can I just let it idle in a barrel??<br /><br />Thanks for any input<br />rookie

you do not have to put it in gear, just let it idle in the barrel.<br />ensure the tell tale is squirting water so you<br />know your water pump is working.<br /><br />a garden hose and "flush ears" make the job easier.

Rookie,<br />Make sure you run it long enough that the engine gets warmed up. You want the thermostat to open as well, that way you can flush those passages too.<br /><br />Nav
