How to flush out cooling system?

I need to flush/clean out the cooling system on '81 Mariner 4hp 2 stroke, after changing impeller, to be sure there is no clogging or blockage. Other than a blast of compressed air or water what should I do?

Hook it up to muffs and the hose and fire it up.

Put it in a garbage can or other such barrel with sufficent water, & run the engine. Good Luck, Joe
