He Guys,

Not really a 'repair' topic, but it may prevent me from having to repair it in the future :)

Going to take my boat on the trailer for some distance and i am not sure how to 'fix' the engine.

Is the powertrim (merc 75 hp) enough to hold it ? Or should I support the lower part somehow ?

Hope you could give me some advice !

thanks,

grtzz. Mervyn

Re: how to fix/lock my outboard for transport on trailer?

The trim motor is not designed to hold the engine during transport. The engine mount has a locking device that will lock it in the up position, But do not recommend it.
I have been all over the country with my boat and would not move it without a Transom saver motor toter.
It is designed to hold the lower unit from bouncing by bracing against the last roller on the trailer.
You must make sure your boat is strapped to the trailer firmly and it takes all the stress from bouncing on the road off the transom.
You can buy them from any dealer for about $35.00.
Hope this helps

Cabela's sells several different transom savers, most of them adjustable and some with shock absorbtion. I use the frame mount for my F115 instead of the roller mount type and love it. $39.99. Don't use the trim or the motor's stop feature.....they will break. :)

Mervyn;
Before you take off on your trip head to Walmart and get a transom saver for a little over $20.
In east Texas the roads to the fishing holes can be pretty rough and bouncy. I know what it's like to look in the mirror and see your motor standing
at attention. You'll pull over really fast.

mervyn:
Sorry about the Walmart advice. Didn't see where you were posting from. I don't think Walmart's there yet. But be sure to get one.
