I have a 94 225 Yamaha(counter rotation) on a 1972 , 21 ft Whaler outrage. I cant find any numbers on the prop. The boat jumps out the water and will turn over 6500 rpms. But I can't get over aobut 46 mph. I wanna get a new prop with a higher pitch, but don't know what pitch my prop is now. I am guessing 17 or 19.

any suggestions???

all most all props have a number on them.
1, remove prop and look where the hardware has it covered.
2 look for factory iD number
3 look on side between blades.
4 last resort take to prop shop they will tell you.

It has numbers on it somewhere - you may have to remove it to see them.....

46 mph is moving!! but 6500 is a bit high on the RPM..take the prop off and look behind the collar

Re: How to figure out the pitch??

Ok, took off prop and found a few numbers on back of hub. The only ones that made any sense were Y1417. I am assuming that is diameter 14 and pitch 17.

Next question, go up to a 19 or 21? I wanna say the recommended wot for this motor is like 5000, which seems pretty low to me.

I figure a 19 will take me down to 6000 or 6100, but that still seems high, unless I just don't run it full throttle.

Any suggestions. old 21' 1972 whaler outrage, with a 94 225 yamaha on a jack plate. ?????? Thanks,
