how to disconnect shift rod on 15 hp force

where to locate disconnect point oc shift rod<br />so that lwr unit can be removed to replace <br />impeller. can't locate an access plate.

You have to drop the lower unit down a little.<br /><br />Put motor in forward.<br />Remove 4 bolts that secure the lower unit.<br />Drop the gearcase as far as you can.<br />This should expose the joint in the shift shaft.<br />There is a screw that secures the 2 halves together. <br /><br />Mark the shafts with magic marker BEFORE you disassemble. It has to go back together exactly the way it was. The 2 shafts can't be rotated or placed on the other side of each other.<br /><br />You really should get a manual, as re-assembly and adjustment can get a little tricky.

thanks! I had dropped it down but apparently<br />not far enough. will try it again today. trying<br />to get grandson back on the water. have a 86 35<br />johnson that the flywheel came loose one thread<br />and snapped off the threaded part of the crank<br />so the force is backup until i tear down the 35.
