I have a worn Dog Gear in my Suzuki DT85 1982 Motor. I have removed the lower unit and wish to disassemble to repair/build up and re-machine the dog gear. Do I need a Puller to remove the Front Bearing Housing ? Do I need to apply heat ?
Can it be done without wrecking seals etc ?
What parts will I need to obtain as a bare minimum. (The gearbox has never been disassembled before, and was working fine, with no leaks, impellor ok,etc before the DOG Gear Went)
I am reasonably good with mechanicals and have access to fitting/turning expertise.
I know this can be done, because the previous gearbox was repaired this way before and lasted 3-4 years before breaking again,. !!
