How do you determine what size prop you have when there are no markings? Is it the total diameter of the fins?

I had the same problem with my prop. Had to remove the prop, still didn't see any markings, then on the bottom where it was covered in grease, wiped away the grease, then I could read the prop size.

Chances are there are marking, you just aren't seeing them. But, diameter is measured just how you think it's measured, after all a prop is a circle!
However, the most import measurement is the pitch, and you can't measure that. You'll have to take the prop to a prop repair shop and they can tell you what the pitch is.
But make sure you look on both ends of the hub first, cause the pitch number should be on the prop somewhere.
