Is there anyway to tell what pitch a prop is. I have a 1988 85hp force on a 88 Bayliner bass boat. There is not one number or letter stamped on it. Thanks
If you can give us your lightly loaded wot rpm and gps speed we may be able to guess the ball park pitch.
Have you checked carefully on the ends of the hub?
Is it a thru hub or a non thru hub prop? What size bass boat?
Is it a 1704 fish and ski or a 1709 pro? both have a dry weight of 1300.
i have one force prop that has the pitch stamped on the front edge of the blade right where it goes into the hub. see example pic
Also if you have the plastic flare on the end of the prop you need to take that off and look under it to see the front of the prop for a michigan number.
Also, if you have another prop of the same brand, or if they are stock, put on on top of the other with the blades aligned. Stock props come in 2 inch pitch increments and you can easily see the difference.
Thanks all. This is a project boat I purchased and have not had a chance to put it in the water yet yet to see what kind of RPM's at this point. I am going to pull the prop today to see what I can find and yes it has a plastic flare on it. It it a 1709 pro from what I can tell. Info on these boats seam to be a little vague from my searches thus far. Again thanks.
Thanks for all the responses. I removed the nut and washer from the prop and low and behold the prop ID number was underneath. Crossed the Michigan prop number and I have a 13 x 17 prop. Get my trim rebuild kit put in tomorrow and soon as weather breaks, hit the lake and see what happens !
