Hi Guys,

We just purchased a 1972 Nineteen. She still has her original gold vinyl seats in the front & facing back. The seats are in good condition but I seriously doubt they were ever cleaned. I'd like to be able to keep as much of the original parts as possible. Having said that, could I get any and all opinions on the best way to clean 38 years of dirt off the vinyl?

Would insert a photo if I knew how

Re: How to clean OLD vinyl

congrats on your new nineteen.

i don't have any secret formula really. i use 303 to keep my seats soft and supple. i note when i apply it that it usually turns my application rag dirty. i assume it's cleaning to some degree...
have ya tried a little soap and water?
best i can do for ya..

as for the fotos.. go to photobucket.com and sign up there. it's real easy after that if ya got yer pics in yer computer.. upload, pick you size. copy and paste into fourm..

Mr. Clean Magic Eraser will make them clean again. Then use 303 to keep them that way.

I'll give the magic eraser a try, didn't think about soap and water how silly is that! Yesterday I tried: greased lighting, simple green scrubbing bubbles and Tough stuff foam. The tough stuff did the best, but I've got a loooooong way to go.

We're very excited about this boat, I think she's going to turn out great and be really fun. Our other boats are wood, so this is an entirely new experience.
