I have Bearing Buddies on my trailer. How do I check the bearings for water intrusion? Is there a way to remove the bearing buddies without destroying them?
Ed

Use a rubber mallet to work them off. Hopefully they will come off without too much light pounding.

I keep my buddies 1/2 full (based upon piston height and every couple of weeks jack the trailer up and roll the wheel listening and feeling for any abnormalities.

I removed buddies once and later, on a trip it fell off. Did something wrong; grease or got it outta round.

I don't like to take mine off if I can help it.

Mark

You really need to pull the hub and remove the grease seal so you can look at the bearing races for pits.

WHEEL NUT

Your grease can look perfect and there still enough water in it to pit a bearing race.

tommays
