how to adjust mechanical boat steering

g'day all..

I seem to be having a problem with my steering i can turn my wheel left and right but i can only get my motor to go right and not left.. it seems to be and adjustment but i ' know how to adjust this type of steering!! any help is appreciated:D cheers nouse!!

The metal bracket on the transom needs to be loosened and the cable casing needs to be moved. You need to disconnect the linkage on the motor and establish the center of travel then tighten the transom bracket and re-connect the motor.

It probably sounds complicated but you will need to adjust the casing. Once it is adjusted the motor will turn equally left and right.

The cable casting is that braket to the left on the photo looks white with 4 bolts?

Yes, the casing is held in place there. In your photo the steering is at the end of it's travel .....so that should be the limit on one side and you should be able to figure it out ;)

Thanks for the help, got the part i needed the day i planned out to go fishing so it was a close call.. anyways here's the outcome :)

I had a boat with the same setup years ago, you may still get some slipping problems & if you do then put a SS hoseclamp on the shaft either side of the block.
