I'm past retirement age, and my youngest, Hayden, is a 20yo uni student.
His G/F is a trolley-dolly on an A380 (long haul) (not our National Carrier but a large one on other end of the world).
She comes home for 3 days, mothers day and see him.
Not sure of her parent-child relationship, but she stays in a 5 Star hotel when in town.
Anyway he comes home tonight full of beans.
She had arranged for a 'little' rental car thru Hotel/Airline and they go to reception to get it.
The Valet comes in, gives her a 'pod' - she can't drive - she's a learner (L Plate here) so Valet turns to Hayden, and he's up for it.
Valet takes them outside and there is a new Lexus RX450h, but Hayden is on red P Plates, (he has only had his licence for 5 weeks) so asks if they have any P Plates.
So between the Valet, Doorman and Duty A/c, they somehow find red P plates, and comment: 'we've never had this issue before'.
Valet explains how to start etc, and off they go for the day.

When I was 20, I had a olive green steel sunhat on my head!!
Just shake my head at the changes.

Cheers
Phillip

Sounds like your boy is on the fast track. If I were you I'd hold on with both hands. It's going to be quite a ride.

I didn't understand some of the Plate thing but I feel your pain. Modern technology has these kids staring at their phones like there's no tomorrow. I took my son fishing a while back, he's 27, the whole time he's over there poking buttons.

Glad my two adult sons (now) went with me hunting. fishing, hiking, playing football, baseball and actual work issues growing up. They both are very well liked by their respective employers and making very handsome salaries themselves. I never had one problem with them along their growing up years... I guess we are old school though...

I don't get young people today? They live on their phone like it's a lifeline, and pay exorbitant rates for the privledge. In my day, a phone was just a tool, a necessary evil, used just to keep in touch with people, & in emergency's. Not something to worship. Now we have games, & apps? Who really needs this? Isn't life challenging enough, that you must walk into walls, or fountains, or text while driving? Is it the end of the world if you can't?

Then they go out, & buy the biggest widescreen they can find, for their TV's & computers, but prefer to go on their tiny phone screen to use the internet? I can't even see those small screens, much less use my fat, old fingers to make them work!

Then you have them biting like a school of fish, as soon as the latest phone, or app. appears? Is it really important to have the latest, & greatest? Are they really holier then thou having the latest gadget? I gotta pause here, even tho I'm just getting started!

Different generation, we most likely say the same things our parents said about us. Both my parents grew up in the depression, my father was a wealthy man. He never spent money he did not have to and would repurpose everything he could and almost never bought new. Lessons I have tried to pass on to my adult kids.

You, & I both!

But, I do have a Trac-phone, I buy a card for the minutes, but hardly use it. It only came in handy when the power went out.

What really Irk's me, is when you're out at nice restaurant with your family, and, or, friends, and you see all these young people with their pants down below their butt, a baseball hat on backwards, and all kinds of piercings, looking like growth's on their face, or body? Usually, they have an attitude to match. What is the attraction to that? It's like can you top this for being the most bizarre!

It's a fashion statement and one that I ignore and I do mean completely. They are not in my life nor are they part of my life so why should I let them in? And attitudes come in all sizes and flavors and can also be easily ignored.
