How tight for steering cables

I have rotary cable steering and it always seemed real tight and touchy. I have just finished installing a cmc tilt trim and replaced the trim anode. The cables were set very tight before I slacked them off to reach further back for the tilt trim unit. How tight should I reinstall them? Thanks
