How often to change a fuel filter...

I Have 2008 4.3L Mercruiser 190 HP, and can't seem to find how often I need to change out the fuel filter.

If anyone can point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it.

Depends on the fuel filter that you are wondering about. If it is the spin-on (looks like an oil filter) style, then most of us change them at the beginning of each season. If you are having water problems in your gas, you will need to change more often.

I usually let my old one completely drain outside of the boat...place it into a large Ziploc bag...and carry it for an emergancy spare.

A 2008 is probably efi. There is a metal can filter on them. I would think at least annually as any other marine filter. Maybe more as they are finer filters and smaller.

Thanks for the reply.

Bought the boat used, and no telling when it was changed last. I'm having problems with the engine "stalling/sputtering" when I shift it into gear and WTO.

Plan on changing it out this week. Thanks again.
