How much should extra weight slow me down?

Just curious. Still haven't gotten the performance I expected after my 3.7l --> 4.3l upgrade. It's a touch faster on the top with better mid range. Me + full tank gets me 48-49 mph @ 46-4700 rpm. Today out with about 1000# extra people/gear (6 real people, 2 kids) and topped out at 42 mph @ 4300 rpm. Seemed like a big drop to me, but does that sound reasonable?

Don't remember which 4.3 you installed or boat for that matter, but not a much HP difference between the two motors. Torque should be a little better. When I was running heavy and/or pulling skiers, would reduce the prop pitch. Came out of the whole easier and would over rev at WOT, but I also don't run at WOT

Ayuh,.... Seems reasonable, but you could use an inch or so less pitch,....

Vortec, 4bbl. Should be 50hp, but 200# weight hit.

I'll be probably getting a 4 blade prop at some point and will likely drop, but I'm pretty much where I should be most of the time. Still 4600 with 3-4 on board. I still haven't had a chance to see how it pulls me on a slalom ski...
