Hi,

I would like to get an inflatable boat, 11' long, with solid hull, like a Sea Eagle Heavy-Duty Boat ( Cabelas ) .
I was thinking to get a small engine, but how powerfull ? I would also like it to be able to go against a river, with 3 person inside...

Thanks

Not familar w/ model but I had a 14 ft Zodiac w/ a 25HP motor....I could have used a 35HP on my trips to Block Island 12 Mi off of the RI coast...If stowage is not issue, get the biggest that will fit.

R>

Yo, d-radulescu. DON'T get the biggest motor that will "fit". The boat manufacturer must rate the boat for load, persons and HP. Do not exceed any of those ratings. I would guess that an 11 foot inflatable would perform well with 15 to 20 hp. Maybe less. Bigger motors can be too heavy, as well as risk flipping the boat over backwards. If you want to go fast, get a bigger boat.

Good luck.
JB

The max HP rating that I can find for this type of boat is 15HP. You should have no problem getting to your destination. In fact it could be quite a rush.

Capt Ron

Hi,

Thanks everybody.

I have just seen now that they reccomend a 4 HP engine for this boat. If I'll use a larger motor, will not be to heavy for it ?

Thanks
