How much power does 4.3 mercruiser have?

i am going to be purchasing a 18' sea ray with a 4.3 mercruiser engine. i was wondering either from people that own this particular boat or know somebody that does what kind of power can i expect from this. hold a full boat of people and pull a tube? what do you think the top speed will be?

Depends on wether it's the 4.3 TKS (190 HP) or the 4.3 MPI (220 HP). The standard 4.3 @ 190 HP, will get you about 45-50 MPH, the Injected 4.3 @ 220 HP will get you 50-55 MPH. For me, I consider 6 adults in my 20' Glastron a "full boat". Mine pulls just fine with 4 in the boat and 2 on a tube. I've got the 220 HP, but I think the 190 would do just fine too.

I max my 190hp to about 44 in my 19ft cuddy. Older 4.3 had less hp I think 10-15 if I recall correctly one reason I got this boat instead of a mid 90's

How many are you really looking to take with ya? If your are going to haul around a bunch of folks.. You might wanta look into a larger rig.. Myself and 3 others is about all I can stand in my tub.. It is just plan crowded.. The 4.3 has lots of power.. The 5.7 has more

I have the 4.3 TKS, 190 hp. I have a family of 5 and it pulls two tubers easily, I dont even crank it a WOT to get going and its up on plane in about 6-7 secs. Kneeboarding a 100lb kid has not been a probelm either.

No problem. Of course if you load the boat up you will feel a drag. What prop do you have on it?

my 95 maxum 1800SR with the vortec 4.3lx motor will run according to the spedo (I know its inaccurate) 65mph with my wife and I 14x23 pitch prop

More than enough power for that boat. Might want to look at a v-8 once you get to 20 feet and up.

Now thats a wishometer.. That's a ton of prop.. Get a GPS and tell us how much it's off..
