i've got an 89 skeeter bass boat 17'6" with a 115 yamaha v4 what would be the best propeller for this boat i want a good hole shot and the best top end i can get.
You do realize you are asking for a prop that really hasn't been invented yet....or atleast a practical one.
The best bet In my opinion, is to choose a prop that's vented for better hole-shot, that will still put you at the top of your recommended RPM range. Do you have a jack-plate?
couldn't tell you no tach on boat and the prop looks like a cheapy it doesn't come out the hole good at all. i know i'm not much help but hopefully you will be.
To be honest, as a prop consultant, I really need an RPM to give you good advice, or...any advice for that matter..the only other item we could go by would be a GPS reading with a known make and pitch prop.
We could figure a ball-park slip and see what potential number pops up and estimate what pitch you have now. Unfortunately, there is no "chart" that tells us what prop for a specific engine/boat combo.
That could possibly be a 21P...maybe a "K" series...we need a wot speed to go with it though.
If it is a 21, that may give some less-than-fantastic hole-shots...It may be enough pitch to keep the engine below the powerband too.
Do you have any speed readings?
If that's a 21K and 34 is a known GPS...using a modest slip ratio of 12%, that figures out to about 3800RPM...2000 low of target RPM and a killer for the engine if it is really running that low.
Might need to pull the prop and look at the front and back of the hub and see if you can find some other numbers...we just don't have enough to go by.
On that rig, "IF" the engine is running right, I would have guessed 4800-5200 with a 21P. It doesn't calculate out as possible with a known 34 gps.
