How much performance can be lost due to waterlogged Flotation foam?

...Just put my '91 Bayliner Capri 19ft. bowrider with new 3.0 engine and volvo SX drive into the water for the first time. I didn't notice a small hole in the hull because it sat on top of the bunk in the trailer. I know this hole let water in on the port side and completely saturated the floatation foam. I have since repaired the hole but am wondering just how much extra water weight this soaked foam could hold and how much it could hurt my boats performance as in TTP (time to plane) and top speed. With a full tank of fuel and myself and the wife only (320 lbs.) The boat will reach plane in roughly 5-7 seconds and once trimmed will reach about 36-38 MPH. at WOT. When there is 4 adults in the boat 2 in front seats, 2 in back stern seats the boat will not even plane without someone moving to the bow to help her up and top speed will be about 35 MPH.
I am just wondering if these numbers are somewhat normal, and I am hoping that after I ditch the old waterlogged floatation foam the boat may perform a bit better?. Can anyone share experiences or any other input as to just how much water saturated foam can affect performance???

Thx. for any input,
Mikey :)

Well, this is just an estimate, but water logged foam in a 19 foot boat I bet would weigh between 200-300 lbs alone.

So, think of it as if you were to add two more passengers...

This is just a ball park figure though...

i have seen as much as 500 lbs. then the wood takes on water, all you have is mush under the floor. makes it easier to take out.

Those numbers aren't far off my 17 foot SeaRay with a 3.0 Mercruiser (mine would do 40 but was a smaller boat), although I never had to move passengers to plane.

Performance hit or no I think you'd want to get wet foam out as it will only make your floor and stringers deteriorate all that much faster.
