I'm installing the upper half of the outdrive on an alpha1 to the bellhousing. I get to about the last 3/4" to 1" and it stops. Is it possible to put a 2 x 4 on the back of the housing and tap? Should there be that much resistance. I'm thinking its just the new o-rings needing seated.

I always had the same problem. I used oil on the o-rings instead of grease but still hard the last inch. Luckily the splines all looked new with no wear on edges. This last time I used an alignment tool and adjusted the front engine mounts a really small amount. Outdrive slid in so much easier! Surprised me!

The alignment tool seems to be the hardest part. Every time I pull it out, it drags on something. It looks to be biting the same all around, so I didn't make any adjustment. I would have thought I needed to adjust it at least a little.
