This is a 2003 Nissan 200 hp Outboard motor. 4 stroke, electric start, has ignition box and is in excellent condition. I attached a picture of the motor. I was wondering if anyone knew how much is was worth? A friend was moving and gave it to me.

Gave it to you? That's odd. Does it run? Have you heard it run? Recently? I can't imagine someone giving a 200 hp late model outboard to anyone if it was in running condition.

It's worth a bunch if it's running well. Trouble is, you may not have a way to demonstrate that to a prospective buyer since it's not on a boat.

You can look up asking prices on various web sites, like Craig's List and eBay. Still, without being able to demo it to a buyer, the price would be what a non-running outboard would be.

One other question: Did your friend have a boat? If not, I wouldn't try selling it until you're sure it isn't stolen.

Wait a minute. There was no 200 hp Nissan in 2003, and looking at your tiny photo, it's clear that is nothing like a 200 hp outboard.

So, tell us what you have there. Give us the model number. It ain't a 200 hp Nissan from 2003.

Re: how much is this outboard motor worth

Well it was given to him by a friend who moved and did not have room to take it with him. My friend has no need for a boat motor and since I live on a lake he offered to give to me. I am giving him a hundred dollars but I know that even if it were a 25hp that it is at least worth a couple thousand. The motor was hooked up to a battery and ran a few days ago. By the looks of the picture it is around a 2000-2004 model. I know you have to have a boat with a steering wheel to use it. I will see if i can get a better picture of the motor. Thanks

Just give us the model number. You'll find it somewhere on the engine.

There isn't one. That looks like a 25-40 hp outboard to me, but I don't know Nissans. I'm not sure what the answer is, but maybe the OP will post more information.

Looks like a Honda to me. Get the correct model number from the label (not graphics on the cowl) and maybe we can help you.

Tohatsu/Nissan has not has anything bigger than 115 hp in several US years.

Sure looks like a low profile 9.9 or 15 if Nissan has such a thing.

Well, thanks for the comments, I think. I dont know a whole lot about motors. And when I saw the picture it looked like by the size it was only about a 20hp. But do they make a motor that small that you have to use a steering wheel? More pictures are on the way soon. Its a seven hour drive to pick it up but still at only a hundred dollars for the motor Even if it were a 5hp I think its a good deal. I will keep you all updated on what I find.

one thing is for sure...it's not a Nissan, it's a Honda. From the tiny pic you can see the "F" that Honda uses in their "Four Stroke" decal. Can't tell what hp it is from pic but probably a 9.9 or 15. In any case, it's definitely a Honda

Hey i was sent the wrong photo. That other one was a honda. Here is the Nissan. I know its not a 200 but it still looks like a decent ATT00001 (3).jpgmotor. He will give be both of them for $300 just to clear space in his work shop.

so what's the model # and/or serial #? There should be a serial # sticker on the side of the motor (the side not pictured).

I still dont know, the guy who i am getting it from works with me and he works for an off shore catering company so he wont be able to get it for me till he gets back home. I should have the motor in three weeks. From what I have researched i think it is probably a 30hp 4 stroke. I see the tiller handle on it so it cant be much bigger that a 30

Both? You mean the motor from the 'wrong picture'?

This has to be the most ridiculous thread I've ever seen on this site.
