I’m looking at either the Yamaha AR 195 or 210. Both new. MSRP is ~ $38K and $45K respectively. What would be considered a good deal. I’m brand new to boating - just looking for something to scoot the family around in.

Welcome aboard.

You might be about 6 months late or 6 months early for any hornswoggling. Late Spring and Summer are bad times to be looking for deals on boats.

That's a tough question to answer, assuming someone who has purchased that same model boat recently would need to wander by this thread, you also have varying locations. Why don't you call around to nearby dealers in adjacent states and compare offers for the same model boat?

Depends on location, Region and Demand for those particular boats, normally at the beginning of the season, not a lot unless you catch one at a boat show. If they are brand new or recently introduced models, lowers your chances even more.

Check to see what 1 year old ones are going for in your area, you will be amazed at how much value a boat drops in the first year or two.

A quick google search would indicate that dealers are selling them at near list price. You will just have to talk to your dealer to see how they price them.

Off the lot they may be willing to deal, but probably an ordered boat will not be negotiable.

My experience with Yamaha was you might get $1000 off. Others are not so liberal. E.G. Boston Whalers sell for list price....period. They won't allow dealerships close together, so there is no competition.

:welcome: to iBoats . . .

If you check out www.seedealercost.com you will see that Yamaha's are invoiced to the dealer at about 89% of the MSRP. So, not a lot of wiggle room there as opposed to other brands that invoice at about 70% of MSRP.

The website does not have current year information for the jet boats, but the 2017 data should give you an idea of the margin that the dealer is working with.

As the others have indicated, you are probably going to be close to MSRP, but see what you can do.

Depends on what the Dealer's Financial Situation is. If he is in a Cashflow bind, it might force him to sharpen his pencil

In MN after the 4th of July week is when prices start to drop........not sure where you are and if the same holds true.

If your brand new to boating used is a better way to go provided you have friends and/or family that can help you find a good boat.

Lastly..... hopefully you've test driven a prop boat and compared it to the Yamaha. Apples and Oranges,
