The one on the left is a long shaft. Can't tell for sure aout the one on the right. But look to see if the one on the right has that 5" extension like the one on the left.
From the top of the transom clamp (where it sits on the transom) to the cavitation plate is appx. 18-19" on a short shaft, and 5" longer on a long shaft.

As far as what there worth I just picked one up for 100 bucks but its a tiller model.I just got it to fire up today and put the lower unit on it. Cant wait to get it out on the water, As easy as it is to work on I would jump at two for 300 if it came with even one set of controls and a harness.
