Just put electronic ignition in my 1969 Mercruiser 120 (153 Chevy 4-cyl). Nice smooth idle. I have a timing question that my manual doesn't answer.

I read somewhere that it's better to set the timing at speed (over 3K rpm) rather than at idle. This makes sense to me, but I don't know the proper total advance from the centrifugal advance mechanism in the distributor. Any thoughts?
