Re: how many LBs of thrust?

If you have a single battery for the trolling motor, get as many lbs thrust as you can. Something in the 50# range.<br /><br />If you are going with 2 batteries, a 24 volt motor in the 55-75# range.<br /><br />Front mount gives you more control.<br /><br />What is normal trolling speed? <br />For walleye in inland waters, about 1-2 mph.<br />For trout or salmon on the Great Lakes, about 3-6 mph.<br />If you are going to be strong fighting river currents or tides, get more power.

Re: how many LBs of thrust?

I just put the 36volt MK on my 20' Lund. Course I had the room for 3 batteries. For that boat I'd suggest the 74lb thrust bow mount hand controlled. Do some searches on trolling motors. I bookmarked about 50 sites when researching mine. Also, get the 60" shaft for your Grady. I thought the 50 would work on my Lund, till I hit some chop..... Very nice people at Boaters World took it back and gave me the longer one. I consider myself lucky there.......

"Trolling at normal speeds"<br /><br />You may want a 10 or 15 hp outboard on back instead...............
