How many hours of cruising time with 25 gallon tank?

I know it will depend on a lot of variables in terms of stops/starts, wind, etc, but does anybody have an idea of hour many hours cruising time I can expect with a 2007 Sea Ray 185 Sport with a Mercruiser 4.3, 190 hp?
Any thoughts are appreciated.

Depending on all the other variables you haven't mentioned (weight of boat, loading, gear, tuning of the engine, boat bottom condition, speed, etc) you can probably figure somewhere aroung 3-5 MPG. Best bet is to fill the tank, keep what you would consider an average load on the boat (people, coolers, safety gear), go run for 2 hours, then go refill the tank and see what you've used.

Cruising @ 5gph would be about 5hrs. I don't know anybody who runs 5 hrs straight though. I have a 2011 and can go a weekend without a fill-up. Thats part cruising, part WOT, but I often stop and beach so I'm only running MAYBE 2hrs a day total.

after 3 hours of engine run time on my boat I burned 17 gallons skiing, tubing and such... total day on water was 8 hours

on a relate note, is it true that you can idle in gear and travel farther than being on plain? time traveling does not matter in the question.

scroll down, look at the fuel consumption test data. best cruise is at 30mph - 4.86mpg.

however that would be constant load.
