Re: How many hours can I expect from Champion Spark Plugs?
Hi Mark <br />It is my opinion that 75-90% of this spark plug replacing is nonsence and totally unnecessary. I see fellows all the time with a boat full of extra spark plugs. None of them are speced for their engine. When I ask them why do you have so many different plugs, or why do have so many extra sets of the correct plugs. Answer is allways just in case they foul or go bad. You see a lot of guys at the launch changing plugs as well. Now I do and allways have carried one extra set myself. The truth of the matter is I have never needed them. Spark plugs are a symtem. They can tell you if you are having another problem. Spark plugs rarely fail by them selves. Of course they wear out after a while. If your engine is tuned and maintained correctly the recomended spark plug will last longer than you can remember. I realize you asked about Champion brand plugs. This is the brand and type plug that is recomended for your OMC motor. Now if your motor spec's call for NGK brand you should use them for best results. I used to be one of these guy's that did not care about plugs. I would use any old spark plug so long as it crossed up and was cheeper. Not any more. On the other hand there are fancy plugs with numerious electrodes and what not, with claims of better milage and more power. Bulloney. Most folks change spark plugs because it is something they know how to do,not because it is needed. And if your motor isn't running good, or your plugs don't last, it is an indecation of another problem. It is amazing how many, many people people operate 2-stroke engines and have no clue as to the proper starting procedure. This is everything from weedwackers, chainsaws to outboards. Even is they purchessed the machine new they don't read the owners manual. If the darn thing don't start on the first pull, pull harder the next. If that don't work change the spark plug. I do use Champion brand plugs in all my OMC motors.
