I'm considering buying 32 luhrs open without engines. Would anyone be able to tell me some numbers on powering it with gas inboards. THe boat has no motor now, I don't want to get in over my head with costs as I will be having the work done. I plan on fishing within 15 miles of shore in south florida. Hoping someone here can give me an idea on size and very rough ballpark of price. THANKS.

I'm going to assume since you stated "inboards" that you mean a twin engine set up, and rightfuly so as thats a big boat to power..

You basicly need about 500-600 HP to effeciently power that to obtain a good cruising speed and maintain some fuel effency...A pair of well preped 350ci Chevy's making 275-300 HP each, would do the job..

For the ultimate, A pair of Mercruiser MX 6.2 MPI engines putting out 320 HP a piece would do nicely, but there not cheap $$$.. Have a look at the links below for more info and prices...

http://www.ebasicpower.com/

mercruiser inboards

http://www.luhrs.com/models/index.html

Most of them came with 2 x 318 chryslers which are I think 230 HP each. I was just looking at 32 Luhr's. They perform surprisingly well... 18-20 mph cruise depending on the bottom.

A friend of mine has one with twin 318's. Great boat, but due to design I don't think adding hp would give you much more speed.

Yeah, the more the merrier. Ideally, if you can afford it, twin 200 hp diesels would be the choice. They are a little pricey but cheap to run. You can run a diesel at 90% all day and not hurt it.
