How long to flush motor

Just wondering how long I should flush my motor after running it in saltwater--thanks-btw, I have a 3.0 mercruiser.

Long enough for the tstat to open.

I usually flush my boat engine for about 15 to 20 minutes. Alternating from idle to high rev (2500 rpm).

Dont rev the motor while flushing.T-stst must be open to get benefits of flushing.Reving the motor can actually lower the temp and partially close the stat..or if the water pressure is not high enough it may cause the impeller to run w/o enough water in the housing for that moment.
