How Hot Is A Rectifier Supposed To Get?

Checked & double checked connections, wiring diagram, etc. Motor starts & runs & charges fine but rectifier gets very hot to the touch.

Was told by a guy, who oughta know what he's talking about, that it was because of my not having any accessories. He said once the battery reaches full charge there's nowhere for the juice to go so it gets dumped back to the rectifier, causing it to get hot. Does this sound right?

The explanation doesn't make sense to me but I don't claim to be an expert.

Is the rectifier properly attached to its mounting points, which should act as a heat sink?

From what I've learned from others on this forum, the "juice" is not dumped back to the rectifier. When there is little demand, the switching rectifier just doesn't tap that much power from the stator. I would think the rectifier would run at its coolest under little or no demand but would probably still be hot to the touch.

Have you actually checked the voltage to verify that the battery isn't overcharging?

Yes. ~13.8V to the battery. Mebbe it's not really a problem, like I said she runs fine, but just seems to me that rectifier gets awful hot?
