How hard is it ?

After chaseing my tail for the last month about my new to merc 500 50 horse has been having issues . I found out why had the motor tilted out of the water by means of my jack plates i kept smelling gas and seeing rainbows in the water . Well i ran back to the launch minus the cowling and gas is spitting out my lower carb , im thinking bad float or needle , even when the motor is off gas still flows out. How hard is the rebuild and then tuneing of the carbs on this type of motor ? also how bad is the fuel pump rebuld ? i have done single carbs on truck , evinrude and lawnmowers. but never tuned them ? any input thanks

They aren't any harder than want you've already done.
The fuel pump is even easier.
You should have no problems.
I believe there is a thread about synchronizing you should look up.
