How hard is it to Re Sleeve a Kawa 650

I need to replace the sleeve in my 88 Kawasaki 650. I have a new set of wiseco pistons Stock bore, but the inside of cylinder one looks like poop! The machine shop here in town said they wont touch 2 stokes, due to the diffuculty of aligning it right. I didnt trust him though got that vibe.

So I was wondering how hard it would be to do myself, or should I pay someone to have this done?

Thanks Matt

My personal opinion is forget the wiseco pistons and find a good shop to bore out the hole and put in regular cast pistons to match the bore. or find a good used set of jugs that have not been bored,, try www.jetkingparts.com for a used block. or maybe sbt for a top end kit

Thanks, I sent in a part request, I will see how much they are looking ot get for a used set. The only reason I dont take it to the next size over, is that I already have those pistons, so I figure why not use them.

I see but if they are forged pistons and most wiesco pistons are, you will probably have issues with them if the holes are not cut for each one as they are never the same exact diameter, and they expand more than cast pistons.

replacing the sleeve is not something you can do yourself. have it re-sleeved and get all the bores machined to suit the pistons. there's nothing wrong with the wiseco pistons but the bores must be machined to suit them. You can't just replace the stock pistons with forged. The bores need to be matched.
