Does anyone out there have a 1968 evinrude 55hp on a 1968 14ft crestliner marauder type boat? It is fiberglass with a closed bow. I am wondering how fast mine should go? If anyone has any thoughts please share them.
Thanks

forsaken, he said it was a 1968 14 foot. that taken care of, in 68 the glass boats were heavy compared to today. assuming it is not retaining water in the foam, if any foam, and a 58 55hp running properly and set up properly i would think you should atleast see 30 if not more. now if it is a trihull, you can cut that back some.

Sorry about the 14ft thing. I edited that after he saw it.......It isn't a tri hull though. It isn't running right yet but I have had it up to around 26-28 sofar. I am really curiuos to know what to expect though when it is fixed :) Foam? under the floor?

A friend of mine has a 15' Starcraft closed-bow fiberglass similar age to yours with a Spirit 50hp hangin on the back. It will do around 32-35mph with two people and a light load of fishing gear on board. Add another person, and it drops to 27-30mph.

the federal gov't made regulations that boats must have floatation. this was accomplished by hiding closed cell styrofoam in places, like under the floor. if there has been extensive water intrusion the water will soak into the foam, and you can get it out. from what you said you are probably ok.
