The iboats forum moderators are excited to announce that at this time it appears the iboats forums posting pictures function is working once again. Though we cannot promise for how long, we're hoping for indefinitely.
I have a 1989 1750 (bowrider) Capri with a 2.3L.
With a 19p turning point hustler, it went 43 MPH GPS last summer. And surprisingly the speedometer isn't off by much..
Gonna try a 17p next summer, as the RPM's were at the low end of the operating range.
1984 Capri 1900 with Chrysler 125 and standard 13*19C prop - 38mph GPS @ 4200rpm - looking for why the rpm is so low so maybe a little more to go - maybe just break 40?
Tried looking for test results from when it was new but can't find anything yet.
84 Capri 1600 with 85 horse can break low 40's on gps and speedo with the right prop. Owned it since new. No tachometer on it but it weights only 1050lbs. Maxxie, on an old boat like my 84 and your 85, I'd take an OB all day. My Chaparral with an I/O has cost me a lot in preventative alone over the years compared to my OB which has cost three spark plugs since new.
Tried it this weekend: My dad's bayliner 1850 from 1992 with the 3.0L MCM Mercruiser and Hifly 5 blade prop.
Topped it with my GPS at about 80 km/h (= 50 mph?)
1987 Capri 1750 5.0 aq270 21p @ 58mph.
But only on glass. Had it for 2 weeks and need to replace plugs, clean carb, and put some seafoam in. If I try to give it any more it wants to bog.
1999 Capri 1850 LS with a 4.3L V6. I had a 3 blade 21p prop and it would run 53 at about 5000 rpm's. I have since switched to a 4 blade 19p prop and it plains out ALOT faster and I get about 47 at 5200 rpm's.
