how do you throw the anchor on this boat PIC

hello, i recently aquired this damnn thing( im not real shure why) and how in the heck do you throw the anchor or use the buoy holders in the front. do i have to crawl my fat azz through the lil window? do i need LOOONNNNGGGG arms to reach from the helm?

Yes you have to go through the window to get to the foredeck, or you can pop out the hatch.<br /><br />Keep your anchor rode and chain in a 5 gallon pail. Put it in rope first and finish with the chain, then when you drop anchor, the chain will come out first.<br /><br />When it's time to anchor, attach the anchor to the chain with a shackle. Gently lower the anchor (not "throw" like you said). The chain and rode will come out of the pail as slick as you please. When you've backed down and set the anchor, tie off to one of your bow cleats. Leave the pail in place.<br /><br />When you need to weigh anchor, untie from the cleat and flake the rode back into the pail. Let it fall in naturally. When it's all in, disconnect the anchor and stow everything away.<br /><br />The fender holders...I'd just bungee the fenders in place.

Back to what the post was actually about... (pic looks fine to me)<br /><br />With something like that I'd go buy and install an electric anchor mate. Just stand at the helm and flip a switch. They're a few hundred bucks but it may be worth it with this boat. I know stores like West Marine and Cabelas carry them. <br />Or you could make an anchor pulley off the bow and run the line to a cleat back by that door. Then you wouldn't actually have to get all of the way out onto the bow.

Correct, you must squeeze your fat arse through the window.....I have noticed that alot of Bayliners are that way....Even the bigger ones....& you need to be a mountain goat to stay on the deck!.....JK

And the problem is there's no center anchor cleat, but the combination bow light is neatly in the center...and in the way. OK, as long as you don't have any strong currents, but not helpful. You could attach the anchor rode to a bridle rigged between the two bow cleats.<br /><br />Fun!

Why not just toss the anchor from the aft?<br /><br />If you really need to have the bow face the wind & waves, you can always climb forward later and fasten the rode up front.
