How do you test to see if your jet ski is out of timing ? What would it do if it Was out of timing Any help please

What exactly is going on to make you believe its out of timing, it could be many other, simpler things...

I was riding the ski Seadoo Hx at full throttle then it died... i turned it back on and only way i got it to stay on was at full throttle but it only ran at an idol.. the motor sounded like it wasn't getting gas to me. So i took off all of the gas lines made sure there was nothing in them.. by passed the fuel on off reservoir switch.. checked compression ( good in both 140 to 150 psi ) checked spark Good .. took off the air intake over the carburetors looked at them and it seems that only the second carb is getting gas.. which does not make since beacuse the gas line goes to the first crab an that feeds into the second.. So i thought the needle was blocked or something in the first carb was going to buy a rebuild kit and do both of them.. But my friends papa said he thinks its a timing problem .. Need help thanks

hmm...did you check the water box?? you may be getting raw fuel in exhaust

when i crank it over i can smell almost feel gas in the back where i believe the exhaust comes out of.. but no i have not checked the water box im not really sure what it is.. i look.. any tips what im looking for Thanks

the water box is basically a "muffler" for wet exhaust. If the fuel was escaping into here you would know it by your nose, plus, u would leave a fuel trail behind you. Im not really sure about the indepth technical stuff in dealing with the waterbox issue either. I had the problem on my 06 seadoo and i just let the dealer take care of it. good luck

nothing in water box going to check the main water intake lines.. but dont think its in that maybe in the carbs ?

Week coil could come into play here?

Dump some gas down the carb and see if she'll fire up.

what kinda ski we talking here?

If before this happened it was riding good then it isn't a timing problem, it's a carb problem. Do you have the original gray fuel lines on there? If so, replace them with 1/4 black automotive line, replace the fuel/water seperator, clean or replace the fuel selector switch and rebuild the carbs with OEM mikuni rebuild kits and replace the needles and seats.


If you do a pop off test afterwards and it's within spec then you'll be back in the water.

dont your carbs have fuel pump diaphrams in the bottom of them? if ones getting fuel and one not, thats what sounds like to me.
