How do you locate hidden stainless steel screws?

I need to lift a panel in my floor to get access to the gas tank. The panel is screwed down with stainless steel screws and the heads are hidden in the carpet. A magnet won't work for stainless steel.

Any suggestions as to how I can figure out where the screws are?

Don,

I tried that and found all the screws around the perimeter but there are some in the middle and I just can't seem to locate them.

Not sure if you saw my other posts, I believe I cured the problem with the boat not reving past 3k rpm, the exhaust flapper valve in one of the pipes broke loose and was stuck.

I was going to go ahead with your suggestion regarding the anti siphon valve just to make sure that I don't have debris starting to clog it but I need to get this panel removed to access the tank.

Only othe idea I had was a metal detector.
