I hate to say it, but those won't do you any good on a stringer. ;)

Bungee cords from the prop hub to the stern eyes. Doesn't stop movement, but cushions it a lot. Never heard anyone concerned over that before.

I have almost zero side to side motion during trailering.

Either that, or it always goes back to the same side just to fool me:}

Sorry Willy, I am now a diverse guy. Others might say I'm a switch hitter.:p These were for my sideline aquisition. My 500$ wonder, my little speed boat, you know, the one that Mrs Boomyal does not know we own yet.

Ayuh,......

I'm with 180shabah on this 1,........

I don't use those funky little plastic pieces you bought,.....
Nor do I tie the drive side to side......
And,.....
My drive is Always in the Exact same spot as I left it, when I get where I'm going.......

Yeah, I'm with Bondo and shaba too Boom, hit your down trim hard against those plastic thingees and see what happens. My old Alpha would pop them right off, so not sure what good they are. IMHO all they do is possibly protect if a hydraulic line falls off . . . Anyway, I like my drive nice and straight when I am going down the highway, and it will move a little, but I have a trick that might help. If you set it straight with the wheel it will move a little easier one direction or the other, so one of the last things I do is grab the drive and work it against the power steering (engine off of course) once each direction, that seems to "load" it a little and seems to keep down any movement. Could be that's why I need a gimbal ring right now, but I doubt it :% I prefer to blame the previous owner . . .

Oh, come on QC. I drive behind those black anchors and they remind me of my dog when I come home at night. That ol' tail is just a waggin back and forth.:p

I know those blocks won't keep the 'tail' from waggin but if you end up with a hydraulic bleed back thru the pump or any other external leak in the lines and/or cylinders, those little goodies will keep the drive from draggin along the ground.

I took the above as a given. I just considered it to be part of the equation for totally stabilizing the drive while towing. I ain't gonna pop the stupid things off by activating the pump while they are on.

If the above were true Gary I would be the forums biggest hypocrite.:%

Yeah, I was standing on the roof when I took that series of shots. I wanted a 'before' record of the boat before I started my resto project. Only thing is is that all the stuff I did is stuff you can't really see. That is of course except for gettin rid of the green astro turf that was covering up my 30+ y/o Nautolex flooring.

I had those seat cushions made back in the early 80's. That was before I made the seat risor blocks and way before I added the smart tabs. When accelerating while under load, with skiers and such, I had to sit up there to get good forward vision. I figured they would serve two purposes. a) it kinda made them look like official seats if anyone took umbrage at me sitting up there, and b) that they would keep the tops of the seat cushions from breaking down. They did an excellent job of that.

Now with the drivers seat raised up 4" and the Smart Tabs, I do not need to use them as much. Mainly I will sit up there when I'm going thru no wake zones.

Note the 2.5" blocks under the passenger seat and the 4' blocks under the driver seat. The seat top cushions are not snapped on in this picture.

What do you think'll happen if there is a sudden and complete bleed back?

As long as there is no hydraulic pressure applied, a sudden loss of positive pressure should just let the rams settle onto the supports.

When you hit the 'down' switch, you are actually applying positive suction. That would be different than simply a sudden release of pressure.

Now, come on QC, quit trying to make me feel bad for my ebay score.:p I saved a whole 12$ over West Marine.

I'm just trying to make myself feel better for not running them with my Bravo. I ran them for 6 years with my Alpha and decided I was done. You've got 5 years to go to catch up . . . 8)

Boomyal, I really like the vintage interior of that boat. I can't believe the condition it is in. Super cool...
