This old Ray Jeff 514 Echo-Larm was on my boat when I got it. I would like to know if it works but have no idea how to test it or use it. Can anyone offer any guidance?
Thanks.

Hook the red lead to battery +, the black to battery -, plug in the transducer. Turn on the switch. You should hear a whirring sound, and there should be a light in the dark ring on the face of the unit. This light will flasher and rotate around the ring towards the zero mark as the motor comes up to speed. Assuming this happens, you need to find some water to see if the transducer is sending and receiving. The light will flash at the depth reading on the dial.

My first boat had one of those. Very simple to use and interpret, and it hardly ever gave a false reading.
Good luck with it.
