How do I tell if the VRO is working upon startup?

I'm getting ready to fire up this 1995 OceanRunner 225 that has sat for 2 yrs. I've done the fogging and bled the carbs, drained the fuel tank, changed filters, etc. But how will I know if the oil pump is doing what it is supposed to be doing? Well, I guess I could burn up the motor, but that's what I'm trying to avoid.

Thanks in advance......

Disconnect the oil line from the vro. Then get some 50:1 mix and hook it up to the mtr. Start it up and let it idle. When the vro starts giving you the no oil alarm hook the oil line back up and keep on running it until the alarm goes off. If it doesn't go off, you know it's not pumping oil. I've had this procedure take up to 20 minutes so don't panic. You're running on 50:1.

Great advice boobie! I would add that when I have the premix hooked up and running the engine, I usually put it under load (in my case, in gear in a test tank) I increase the rpms to over 1500 rpm and that will decrease the alarm time to about a minute and half.

I hear you Multimech, I used to do the same thing in the shop but I don't think he has a test tank.
