How do I remove this stuck impeller key?

Johnson 55hp 1979.

Any ideas how I remove this thing? It looks to have slipped down lower than its supposed to be so cant even grip it...

Just pull or pry the impeller up the shaft.

Take 2 screwdrivers and pry it up. Appear to be wrong one anyway as should have square slot for key..

Likely has broken / destroyed gears.-----Salvaging the impeller is not a worry.-----Just cut it off.

Impeller usually has to come up first, and if stuck by the key, then pry/cut (carefully) as mentioned.
