I really want to remove the dash first thing this spring to replace it with a nicely done piece of wood but I ran into problems. I removed all the nut that hold the dash in place, but it doesn't budge. I tried to bring it forward, but it was moving the whole aluminum stripping with it. Any help would be appreciated. Here's a pic... hope it helps.

I know it's kinda a far pic, but you can see the trim at the top of the dash I was referring to. BTW, she looks ALOT better now!

Gunner, is that a Holiday? 17'. I'm re-working a 66 Sunchief as we speak. I'm planning on taking my dash out also, but I think you have to remove the rubber strip to uncover whatever fasteners are holding the aluminum trim piece in. I have a link here somewhere for replacement rubber if you need it.

Let me know how it works out for you!

Actually, I believe it's a Jupiter- here's a brochure page I found on another website: http://f1.grp.yahoofs.com/v1/kNBzSS...tRsiVGISeIFrxwEkq8GmyGrtIpjN/1967_Jupiter.pdf

Gunner,
Here's one
http://www.go2marine.com/category.do?no=14002

Here's another
http://www.tacomarine.com/cat--Rub-Rail-Kits--rub_rail_kits.html

If you measure the existing rubrail and call these folks with deminsions, I think they can match it. The new stuff will be much more plyable and easier to install that the old brittle stuff you're taking out. UV plays heck on everything with time.

Hope that helps. Let me know what you find when you take that trim peice off. I've got enough work to do replacing my outer ones:D

Gunner, Looks like my suspicions were correct! I changed my mind and removed the rubber bumper from the rub rail today and sure enough, there are screws into the dash wood.

Have fun with it!

I have the same boat and did the same project. I replaced the wood with a piece of PVC trim board from Lowes. I painted it to match the interior and it looks great. My dash has an aluminum ledge that installs underneath it. It's all kinds of handy. If you have that piece definitely reinstall it. This pic shows the ledge. Ignore the dash layout because this was before I took it all apart again and installed the PVC board and new gauges. I really need to take a shot of that.
